What are the Benefits to Drinking Green Tea?

Brrrrrrrr! I don’t know about you, but this winter has been way too cold. So we are going to warm it up with a littleGreen Tea, which just happens to be one of my favorite morning drinks. Why, you dare ask??? =)

Easy! You know I’m all about your health, and Green Tea is just overflowing with beneficial ingredients. Here are some if the top perks when it comes to sipping a steaming cup of tea on a chilly winter morning……

Catechins– A specific form of antioxidant, catechins have been shown to help your body burn more calories, thereby decreasing body fat! They are also known to be rich in anticancer and antiviral properties, and have been shown to help prevent Alzheimer’s and just promote cardiovascular health in general. Pretty awesome, if you ask me.

Caffeine– Now, I know what you’re thinking here. Caffeine = BAD. No. Having 3 triple shot espressos and a sugar-filled venti mocha caramel latte is bad. There is just enough caffeine in Green Tea to give you a little boost, but definitely not enough where you start suffering caffeine withdrawals. No headaches for you, but do try to drink the green stuff in the morning and early afternoon, so that it doesn't interfere with your sleep!

Antioxidants – Besides catechins, Green Tea is filled with additional antioxidants. Most of us live in polluted cities, have stress at work, or sometimes with significant others, or even just the body stress that comes from a good workout. Stress creates free radicals in your body, and these little dudes speed up your aging process, increase your chances of getting sick, and prevent you from getting your best rest at night. I don’t like free radicals. Antioxidants, on the other hand, help stave off free radicals, helping you stay healthy!

As you can see, Green Tea is pretty darn awesome. There was even a study done showing that people who drank green tea every day lost more body fat than those who drank regular oolong tea! BOOM! So your Tip of the Week is a very simple one. Warm up in the mornings and early afternoons to a warm cup of unsweetened Green Tea and live a healthier, happier life.

Cheers to you friends!
